The obligations rise with each category. But stars do not measure cleanliness, courtesy, quiet or how comfortable the bed is: the three things that matter most for how you sleep.

- Bathroom in the room. In lower categories it can be shared on the landing. If the room description does not say so explicitly, ask.
- Air conditioning. In Florence from June to September this is not a detail. A fan is not the same thing.
- Breakfast included or not. Many basic rates exclude it and add it at checkout. Always compare the final price with breakfast.
