Which Hotel Room to Book in Florence? A Guide for Couples, Families and Groups (1–5 Guests)
Quick answer: as a couple, choose the Double Room (double bed) or the Twin Room (20 m²); as three, the Triple Room (25 m², three singles or a double plus a single); as four, the Quadruple Room (30 m², double plus two singles, soundproofed); as five, the Quintuple Room (34 m²). When you search for a room in Florence, booking sites show you dozens of near-identical listings and the choice ends up being about price alone. The questions that actually matter are different: will we all fit in one room? What beds are really in there? Is breakfast included? And what if we arrive late or want an extra hour in bed on the last morning? All rooms have a private bathroom, air conditioning, flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi, are non-smoking and are cleaned daily. Some rooms have a balcony, on request and subject to availability.
Couples: double bed or twin beds?
The difference is not just the bed. The Double Room with a double bed is the classic choice for a weekend for two; the Twin Room (20 m²) suits anyone travelling with a friend, a colleague or a teenage child, and usually leaves more floor space. If you keep different hours, separate beds mean nobody wakes the other up.
A practical tip: if you need the double bed, write it in the booking notes. With a direct booking, special requests go straight to the family who runs the hotel, not to a call centre.
Families: everyone in one room, no juggling
The typical Florence problem is that many city-centre properties are small, so a family of four is offered two doubles, sometimes on different floors. Here the logic is the opposite: one room, everyone together, with proper beds.
- Family with one child: the Triple Room, 25 m², double plus single (or three singles if you prefer).
- Family with two children: the Quadruple Room, 30 m², double plus two singles. It has soundproofed walls: when the children fall asleep early, the rest of the floor does not disturb them.
- Family with three children, or grandparents along: the Quintuple Room, 34 m², double plus three singles or five singles.
- Baby: a cot is available on request for children aged 0 to 2, €10 per night, subject to availability. There are no extra beds, so always count the real number of guests when choosing the room.
Groups of friends: separate beds and simple sums
For three, four or five friends there is one rule: ask for separate single beds. The Triple can be set up with three singles, the Quintuple with five. Sharing one large room costs less than two or three doubles, and everyone gets home at the same time. Free Wi-Fi covers every room, and the Santo Spirito neighbourhood with its trattorias is around the corner.
Breakfast: what you will actually find in the morning
Breakfast is a homemade sweet and savoury buffet: croissants, cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cold cuts and cheese, cereals (gluten-free too), coffee and cappuccino. It is served in the breakfast room or, in good weather, at the tables in the courtyard: there are more photos in the gallery. When you book on the official website breakfast is included in the rate, which makes a real difference compared with many “from” prices on booking sites, where the buffet appears as an extra at checkout.
Space and quiet: what listings do not tell you
You have seen the square metres in the table; three details matter more than a number.
- Soundproofing. The Single and the Quadruple have soundproofed walls. If sleep is your priority, these are the two types to ask for.
- Location. The hotel is on Viale Raffaello Sanzio, a residential street in the Oltrarno: no nightlife noise from the central squares in the evening, yet Ponte Vecchio is about 20 minutes on foot.
- Air conditioning in every room. In July and August in Florence this is not optional.
Flexibility: times, late arrivals, easy departures
- Check-in from 14:00 to midnight. Arrivals outside these hours carry a €20 supplement: let us know in advance and someone will be waiting for you.
- Check-out by 10:00. Guests who book on the official website get free late check-out, subject to availability, which is handy when your train leaves in the afternoon.
- 24-hour reception and luggage storage on departure day.
- Coming by car? Partner garage at €30 per 24 hours with valet pick-up and return. The hotel is outside the ZTL.
