Hotel Near Stadio Artemio Franchi: Where to Stay for a Fiorentina Match
Quick answer: the Stadio Artemio Franchi is in Campo di Marte, on the east side of Florence. Hotel Firenze 2000 is in the Oltrarno, to the west, so we are not near the stadium and we won’t pretend otherwise. We are, however, a practical base if you come for the match and stay in town: about 20 minutes by taxi, 40–50 minutes door to door by T1 tram + train to Campo di Marte, outside the ZTL with a partner garage, and rooms for up to 5 people for groups of fans.
People looking for a hotel near the Franchi usually want two things: to get to the match without stress and to get back at night without getting lost. There are few hotels around Campo di Marte and they fill quickly on match days. This guide explains how to get around, how long to allow and when it makes sense to stay on the other side of the city.
Where the stadium is and what’s around it
The Stadio Artemio Franchi is in the Campo di Marte district, east of the historic centre. Next to it are the Nelson Mandela Forum, which hosts indoor concerts and sports events, and Firenze Campo di Marte railway station, about 400 metres from the stadium.
Work in progress. The Franchi is being renovated, with completion expected around 2029. During the works capacity is reduced and some stands may be closed or moved: before you travel, check your sector, entrances and gate opening times on Fiorentina’s official website.
How to get to the stadium from Hotel Firenze 2000
| Transport | Route | Approximate time |
|---|---|---|
| Taxi | hotel to stadium | about 20 minutes (longer in the hour before kick-off) |
| Tram + train | T1 from Paolo Uccello to Alamanni Stazione, train from Santa Maria Novella to Campo di Marte, 400 m on foot | 40–50 minutes door to door |
| Bus | city lines from the station area towards Campo di Marte | varies: check the route on Autolinee Toscane |
The tram and train route, step by step
- From the hotel walk about 9 minutes to the Paolo Uccello stop on the T1 tram line.
- Take the T1 towards Careggi (into town) and get off after three stops at Alamanni Stazione, next to Santa Maria Novella station.
- From Santa Maria Novella take a regional train that stops at Firenze Campo di Marte: the journey takes about 6 minutes. Check the timetable, as not every train stops there.
- From Campo di Marte it is about 400 metres on foot to the stadium.
Train and tram tickets are separate: buy the train ticket before boarding.

After the match: getting back
The hard part is not getting there, it’s getting back: tens of thousands of people leave at once, taxis are scarce and the streets around the stadium stay closed for a while. Three practical tips:
- Don’t rush. Waiting 20–30 minutes for the crowd to thin often gets you home sooner than racing for the first taxi.
- Evening matches: check the last useful train from Campo di Marte to Santa Maria Novella before you go in.
- Taxis: walk a few streets away from the stadium before calling one, or book one for a set time.
Once you have checked in, you can come back to the hotel at any hour.
Why stay in the Oltrarno if you’re coming for the match
Staying in Campo di Marte makes sense if you arrive, watch the game and leave. If the match is your excuse for a weekend in Florence, the Oltrarno has more going for it:
- Generally lower prices than the few hotels near the stadium, which go up on match days.
- Outside the ZTL: drive right to the hotel and leave the car in the partner garage at 30 euros per 24 hours, pick-up and drop-off included. See our guide to the hotel with parking outside the ZTL.
- The day after the match you’re already in town: Ponte Vecchio is about 20 minutes on foot, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens closer still. Ideas for the rest of your stay in our weekend in Florence guide.
- Neighbourhood evenings: trattorias around Santo Spirito and San Frediano for dinner before or after the game.
Rooms for fans and groups
For groups, large rooms make the difference. All rooms have a private bathroom, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
- Two people, separate beds: the twin room.
- Four people: the quadruple room, a double plus two singles.
- Five people: the quintuple room, for up to 5.
- Larger groups: we combine nearby rooms on request. Full details in our guide to family rooms and groups.
Concerts and other events
If you’re coming for a concert at Visarno Arena (Cascine park) or a fair at Fortezza da Basso, we are much closer: read our guide to hotels near Visarno Arena and Fortezza da Basso.
