Florence Hotel Near the A1 Motorway Exit: Where to Stay on a Road Trip
Quick answer: if you’re driving the A1 and want to stop in Florence without losing time in the city, leave at Firenze Scandicci and reach the Oltrarno on the ring-road avenues: Hotel Firenze 2000 is at Viale Raffaello Sanzio 16, outside the ZTL, with a partner garage at 30 euros per 24 hours. Alternatively, leave the car at the Villa Costanza car park, right on the motorway (7 euros for 10 to 24 hours), and take the T1 tram to Paolo Uccello, about nine minutes on foot from the hotel.
People looking for a hotel near the motorway in Florence are usually passing through: a long drive south or north, a stop to break the journey, a late arrival after hours at the wheel. The needs are always the same: get off the motorway, don’t get lost in the city, avoid fines and park without worrying. This guide explains how, with two options depending on whether you need the car during your stay.
The A1 exits for Florence
Florence has several A1 exits. For the Oltrarno, where we are, they are not all equal:
| Exit / access | For Hotel Firenze 2000 |
|---|---|
| Firenze Scandicci | the most convenient: you enter the city from the west and reach the Oltrarno on the avenues |
| Villa Costanza car park | reachable only from the motorway, between Firenze Scandicci and Firenze Impruneta: park and take the tram |
| Firenze Impruneta / Firenze Sud | possible, but you cross the city: a longer drive |
| Firenze Nord | handy if you come from the north, but again you cross the city on the avenues |
Option 1: drive to the hotel (Firenze Scandicci exit)
The right choice if you need the car during your stay or are travelling with lots of luggage or children.
- Leave the A1 at Firenze Scandicci and follow signs for Firenze.
- Set your sat-nav to the exact address, Viale Raffaello Sanzio 16: you reach the Oltrarno without entering the historic centre.
- If the sat-nav suggests cutting through the centre, don’t follow it: the historic centre is a ZTL and cameras fine anyone who drives in by mistake.
- At the hotel we’ll direct you to the partner garage: 30 euros per 24 hours, with pick-up and drop-off of your car included.
All the details on the ZTL, the garage and park & ride are in our guide to the hotel with parking outside the ZTL.

Option 2: Villa Costanza car park + tram
The cheapest choice if you’ll get around on foot or by tram and the car can stay parked.
- Where: on the A1, between the Firenze Scandicci and Firenze Impruneta exits, reachable only from the motorway, from north and south, through its own toll gate.
- When: open 24 hours a day, every day. Cars can stay up to 30 consecutive days.
- How much: first 15 minutes free, then 7 euros for 10 to 24 hours; 7-day passes are also available. Spaces can’t be reserved.
- The tram: the car park connects to the T1 tram terminus, with trams every 6–8 minutes. Get off at Paolo Uccello, before Santa Maria Novella station: roughly a quarter of an hour on the tram, then about nine minutes on foot to the hotel.
Prices can change: check them on the car park’s official website before you travel. The tram ticket is bought separately.
Arriving late after a long drive
Motorway traffic can’t be planned. That’s why:
- Check-in is from 2pm to midnight.
- Arrivals after midnight carry a 20 euro supplement: let us know in advance from the Contact page so we can wait for you.
- If you’re staying just one night, read our guide to one night in Florence: dinner near the hotel, breakfast and an easy departure.
A stopover or a few days in town?
Many guests stop for one night and drive on. But from the Oltrarno the city is within walking distance: Ponte Vecchio is about 20 minutes on foot, Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens closer still. Even a single morning is enough for a stroll along the Arno before you get back on the road. To understand the location, see our guide to a hotel near Florence city centre.
